Note that if you swap to a different Keepsake, you won’t be able to swap back to your original one until the next run. This lets you swap out Keepsakes mid-run, which can be great for upgrading and giving you an advantage between floors. This will put a Keepsake Collection after every boss. You can also use Gems to upgrade the House of Hades Contractors with the Keepsake Collection, Regional. This is the Keepsake Collection, and it houses and allows you to equip all of your Keepsakes. In the armory, just before you leave the House of Hades, you’ll find a glass chest. Hades guide: Nectar Keepsake Collection Unlock the Keepsake Collection, Regional early in your Hades playthrough Image: Supergiant Games via Polygon You can also trade for it in the Lounge exchange in the House of Hades. It can be a room reward while you adventure, and you can get it from certain Boons. You can collect Nectar a few different ways. You can give him one Nectar at the start of the game, and then he’ll lock you out of gifts for a long time. The only character in the game who won’t give you a Keepsake is Hades. If you don’t see any colored hearts but do see a little, purple bow on a character entry, it means you’ll get a Keepsake when you give them a Nectar. Once you unlock the Codex, you can use it to check your relationship with characters. The little bow (that we circled) above Athena means that she’ll give you a Keepsake if you give her some Nectar. You get Keepsakes when you give Nectar to a character for the first time. Here’s how to get them all and what they do. These Keepsakes are key to success in Hades. Part of how you grow these relationships is through Nectar, a gift resource that you can find in the Underworld and give to friends. I recommend you to watch the videos of GameMaker's Toolkit (the creator of the video i attached), because it has some amazing game design videos that are REALLY useful for beginners, it's probably one of the best in that area.In Hades, you can foster relationships (purely platonic, sorry) with a variety of different characters in the House of Hades and the Greek Underworld. But it'll definitely be much more enjoyable.Īnd also, don't take this review very personal, i understand you are a beginner at this, and I'm really happy to have more people interested in game development, as much as i was when i started, I'm just saying this because i want you to get better at this, and make great games! So honestly, i think if you fix those issues, you're game it's gonna probably be much much better, obviously it still lacks some things. It always feels like i died because of my fault, which is GOOD. Outside of all of that, the game is not that bad actually, the game feels fair, it never feels like i died because of luck. There's also minor issues, like not having a Game Over screen at all, just teleporting, and not having feedback when getting hurt, which made me sometimes wonder why i died, because i just didn't see how many lives i had before, because according to me, i didn't take any damage. I recommend you watch this video of GameMaker's Toolkit about game feel and juice, it really was very informative for me at the time: Games are based on reward, if you don't give that reward or satisfaction, the game is just gonna be extremely boring to play, no matter what. Instead i recommend you to just use the traditional control scheme of WASD for moving, and Mouse to aim and shoot, that way it's much more comfortable for the player.Īnother thing is the "Game Feel" which i don't know if you know that game design concept. But it's basically how the game FEELS to play, right now your game feels pretty lifeless, when you shoot, there's no sound, in fact there's barely any sound at all outside of the music, which makes the game feel very non-rewarding at all, making it really boring. So first of all, the controls are actually kinda horrendous, using the Arrow Keys, while you use the mouse it's honestly horrible, almost no game nowadays controls like this and there's a reason for that, when having your hands that close to each other, one on the keys and one on the mouse, it can cause some pain on your shoulders on the long run, and it's just not comfortable. It definitely has a lot of very important issues that you need to address before you publish it fully on steam (i think you said it's already available there, but the only thing i can do is Wishlist it) I've played your game, and while i think it has potential to be good. Hi! Let me introduce myself a bit, my name is Ricardo and I'm a professional Game Developer with 9+ years of experience, and i also released one of my games on steam, and i'm still developing it.
